A New Chapter: Pastor Paul’s Call to Alabama
With heartfelt emotion, we share that Rev. Dr. Paul A. Hoffman, who has faithfully served as our pastor since 2007, has been called by God into a new season of ministry. After much prayer and discernment, Pastor Paul has accepted a position as Associate Professor in the Department of Biblical and Religious Studies and Director of the Preministerial Scholars Program at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama.
This news, delivered through a deeply personal letter to the EFC family, reflects Pastor Paul’s sincere love for our congregation and his sensitivity in navigating this transition. While the decision comes with grief and gratitude, it also brings excitement for the new mission God has placed before him.
In his own words, this new call includes:
Teaching and mentoring a new generation of ministry leaders,
Supporting the vision of a nationally ranked Christian university,
Creating biblically grounded, practical scholarship,
And participating in racial and ethnic reconciliation efforts in the South.
We invite you to read Pastor Paul’s full letter below and hear more of his heart and calling through the YouTube sermon where he discusses this further:
Please join us in praying for Pastor Paul, his family, and our church community during this time of transition. May we send the Hoffman family forth with our love, gratitude, and commissioning prayers as they follow God's leading.
